The Alpenrost Coffee roaster is arguably one of the best home roasters, thanks to its ability to roast up to a half-pound (8 oz/227g) of green beans at a single time. It capably does this by using the convectional and radiant way of roasting the coffee unlike many home roasters that use the hot-air method. This makes it outshine other home roasters almost three times their production of roasts.
It is also loved by many because it is much quieter than many home roasting machines making it easier for one to distinctively hear the first and second cracks before the beans start softening up. The Alpenrost Coffee Roaster has very many merits among them the ability to perform perfectly well in cold weather and adding to roasts an extra body.
Unlike many home roasters whose performance is notably affected by wind, the Alpenrost Coffee Roaster’s performance is never altered by wind therefore one is always guaranteed of great roasts. The exterior parts of the machine remain moderately cool during the roasting process, minimizing the chances of burning you the operator.
The Alpenrost Coffee Roaster is made in such a way that one can apply the back-to-back roasts hence maximizing on time to have both large quantity which does not compromise the quality of the roasts. It is advisable to allow the machine to rest for at least 30 minutes before starting another roast.
However, by hitting the start button and then immediately hitting the cool button, it will initiate a new cooling cycle. Once the cycle is complete, one is comfortable to start roasting another batch of roasts. Note that one can do two consecutive roasts without cleaning in between the processes.
The Alpenrost has a much slower roast time compared to other air roasters. Typically, it takes up to 20 minutes while air roaster’s take a maximum of 8 minutes to roast. The slow roast time is what builds the body of the end product in the cup.
Finally, it has a very dedicated and effective chaff collecting system. This is done successfully by the flow-through ventilation. However, this machine needs one to be accurate because it roasts consistently using the same weight one puts of the green coffee in the roasting drum.
